INTRODUCTION

The Builder Behind IMVORA

Pertunia Hlengiwe Mkhumbuzi is a South African founder, lawyer, technologist, and the architect behind IMVORA Holdings and its flagship platform, Ms. Flow AI. Her work sits at the intersection of law, technology, storytelling, and African innovation — a rare blend that shapes how she builds, leads, and reimagines the future.

She is not a founder who stumbled into technology. She is a founder who chose it with full deliberation — after developing a rigorous understanding of how systems, governance, and structure create the conditions for things to either succeed or fail.

THE LEGAL FOUNDATION

She Built Arguments Before She Built Companies

Pertunia studied law at the University of the Witwatersrand, where she developed a deep understanding of governance, compliance, corporate structures, and the importance of rigour in decision-making.

While many founders discover organisational systems only after scaling, Pertunia learned them first. It is one of her enduring strategic advantages — an ability to structure before she builds, and to stress-test before she ships.

"The legal mind doesn't leave you. It teaches you to ask: what's the framework? What are the incentives? What happens at the edges? Those questions save companies."
THE PIVOT TO TECHNOLOGY

The Convergence of Two Disciplines

The transition from law to technology wasn't a departure — it was a convergence. Technology, like law, is fundamentally about systems: rules that govern behaviour, incentives that shape outcomes, infrastructure that either enables or constrains possibility.

When Pertunia saw the pace at which technology was reshaping African markets — from mobile payments to creator economies to AI — the mandate became clear: build the infrastructure that makes this transformation permanent. She taught herself. She built. She iterated. She launched.

"My job is not to predict the future. My job is to build the infrastructure that makes certain futures inevitable."
LEGAL CAREER

The Foundation She Built First

Pertunia studied law at the University of the Witwatersrand — one of Africa's most rigorous academic institutions. She completed her articles at the Legal Aid National Office, gaining hands-on experience across corporate law, contracts, civil law, and labour law — a breadth of legal grounding that most practitioners spend decades acquiring.

She has since worked as an Insurance Lawyer, building deep expertise in risk, liability, and the legal architecture that governs how organisations protect themselves and their stakeholders.

This legal foundation is not background detail — it is the scaffolding on which everything IMVORA is built: governance, structure, precision, and an uncompromising respect for how things must be constructed to last.

"Law taught me that the most important decisions happen before anything is signed. I carry that discipline into every product I build."
BEYOND THE BUILD

Teaching Money Consciousness & Critical Thinking

In addition to building companies, Pertunia developed and hosted a Money Consciousness and Critical Thinking seminar in Pretoria — bringing structured financial thinking and argument into rooms that needed it most.

Tsimong — Mentoring the Next Generation

Pertunia was invited to participate as a mentor and coach in Tsimong, a youth development initiative hosted by Busisiwe Mkhumbuzi Pooe and Thami Pooe at Bishops Diocesan College in Cape Town.

The programme brought together young students for an intensive debating and critical thinking workshop. Pertunia contributed as a mentor and coach — sharing the frameworks of structured argument, analytical clarity, and intellectual confidence that have defined her own professional journey.

What She's Building Now

In 2025, Pertunia conceptualised Ms. Flow AI — an agentic AI platform built to transform how creators, businesses, and professionals produce and distribute content. The vision quickly expanded: Ms. Flow AI needed a proper home, a structure that could hold and protect ambitious technology built on African soil. IMVORA Holdings was born.

As Founder & CEO of IMVORA Holdings, she now leads vision and long-term strategy, AI product development across Ms. Flow AI, and the ethical governance framework that will guide every venture the company builds.

Her work is informed by law, shaped by technology, and guided by the cultural wisdom of Ubuntu: "I am because we are." For Pertunia, building a company is not a personal achievement — it is a collective act, with the potential to open doors for an entire generation of African creators and entrepreneurs.

"Africa is not an emerging market. It's an emerged market that the world simply hasn't caught up to yet."

Let's build something together.

Partnership, collaboration, or just a conversation.
